A former handball player, Mike Mojer made the switch to racquetball in the mid-60s, just as the sport was beginning to emerge as a popular activity on military bases nationwide. At the time serving a career hitch in the Air Force, Mike quickly became the man to beat -- known for his textbook backhand and strategic court skills.
After several tours overseas, Mike retired from the service and settled his family in the central Florida area, where he quickly became involved in a number of racquetball projects. In 1980, the Orlando Tennis & Racquet Club elected to convert its indoor tennis building into a 10-court racquetball facility. Mike was hired to build the racquetball program and never looked back.
Over a quarter-century, the Orlando Fitness & Racquet Club claimed some of the best players -- and one of the finest instructors -- in the nation.
Still a competitor in his own right, Mike won his age division at the 2005 Florida State Singles and continues to be a force to be reckoned with in doubles. Congratulations!
